REVIEWS OF THE RAVEN HOTEL
We based ourselves at the three-star Raven Hotel in the picturesque market town of Much Wenlock, 15 minutes’ drive away from Telford and just a few minutes from Ironbridge. This 17 th-century former coaching inn proudly displays references to the town’s Olympic connections, as Baron Pierre de Coubertin, instigator of the modern-day Olympic Games, is said to have been inspired by a visit to Much Wenlock and the games which ran there every year.
The Raven’s restaurant has two AA rosettes and offers a simple but varied menu of five starters, mains, desserts and cheeses. Dishes ranged from bouillabaisse with sea bass, salmon and mussels, to pan-fried Morville beef and Stottesdon lamb with redcurrant and rosemary jus. Taste was excellent, the presentation impressive and the service very efficient.
