REVIEWS OF THE RAVEN HOTEL

The Raven is a lovely old 17 th century coaching inn built around a courtyard and incorporating medieval buildings. Meanwhile, the village has a 12 th century priory (open all year), museum and 16 th century guildhall (open Apr-Oct, 01952 727509). Much Wenlock is tiny, laidback and was aptly described by Shropshire novelist Mary Webb as a place that “somewhere in the Middle Ages had fallen asleep.” The Raven’s menu showed that the dishes hadn’t travelled far – Stottesdon lamb, Morville beef, Meadowley chicken and Wenlock Farm pancetta while there was also a Raven-labelled claret and chardonnay and a locally brewed Raven’s bitter in the bar. Room: 8 out of 10, Food: 10 out of 10, Service: 8 out of 10, Value: 7 out of 10.
